There are a few official CSCS manuals put out by the NSCA in pdf format to know if you are looking to take, or have taken, the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist test. These manuals cover the technical aspects to receiving and maintaining your certification. Below is where you need to look for updated, official information:

  • Exam Candidate Handbook – This is the update manual for all NSCA certifications. This includes information on eligibility, prerequisites, the registration process, recertification, and pretty much everything else you need to know. This is something you definitely want to read through if you are considering taking, or have already scheduled, a CSCS exam.
  • CSCS Exam Schedule – this has a list of all the upcoming paper/pencil test dates and locations. UPDATE: All exams taken using the English Language are now administered by Pearson VUE. You can find more information, including their locations, at this linkYou may have a Pearson VUE testing center in your city or a nearby location, and the testing hours are generally flexible.
  • CEU Requirements – Continuing Education is important to stay updated in your field and to maintain your credential.  This pdf contains all the recertification policies and procedures. Make sure to read through carefully to find the criteria that matches your situation. Your CEU requirements can be different depending on when you received the designation.

These three documents can give you most of the information you need about the logistics of the exam. They do not, however, give any significant information on how to actually prepare for the exam. For that, you can check out this guide to the CSCS certification. This contains on the information on exam cost, format, categories, registration, and locations. It also includes on section on study materials as well as the best way to prepare for the exam.
